It is much to my delight to have a part in this memorable event of 60th Anniversary celebration of the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of the University of Hong Kong. This Congratulatory Message represents my heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to what the Department has accomplished in terms of patient services enhancement over these years.
By any standard, 60-years of accomplishment is a true milestone and, if considering the number of ground-breaking advancements in O&T services development in the past decade or so, in particular, the achievement is ever more fascinating. Echoing what Prof Kenneth CHEUNG and Dr Y W WONG have shared elsewhere, the Department has truly transcended the past and shaped the future of O&T services with contribution in musculoskeletal biology and genetics, artificial intelligence and virtual reality, 3D printing and new implant designs, regenerative medicine, robotic surgery and powered exoskeletons, just but name a few. This has been achieved on the solid foundation of wholehearted commitment of every colleague in generations, past and present. Looking towards the future, a well-founded platform, I believe, is in place from which future generation of colleagues could venture and outshine. My heartfelt salute to YOU all at the Department of O&T!
